Why I started a YouTube channel...

No way has it been three months since I last blogged! What has happened to me??

Okay, so I actually know why I haven’t been posting on here so far this year. I have been completely wrapped up with my new YouTube channel I have been neglecting my blog (bad blogger!) So I guess I just wanted to pop on here to check in, apologise for my lack of activity and tell you guys why I decided to start a YouTube channel in the first place.

Why I decided to launch a YouTube channel

When I originally started blogging in 2017 and launched Grandermarnier, I was sure that writing blogs was the best (or only?) way to reach people with the messages I wanted to share. But as the years have gone by (can’t believe it will be 5 years of this blog this summer!), I’ve started to recognise the different powers that social media channels can have in reaching people too. I have used Instagram to promote this blog since I started and have grown a fantastic little community on there, I really mean it my followers are such an uplifting group of people. I started to see how people were using YouTube to share educational and informative content and I realised that’s where I need to be for Grandermarnier!

The idea for a YouTube channel actually first sparked in 2020-ish, but I’ve made so many excuses over the years that I’ve always found a reason to not start it. When 2021 was coming to an end I just knew if I didn’t jump on this now and make the move then perhaps I never would. So, I planned the launch for the very start of 2022 and quickly pulled together a plan for my first few videos! And the rest, as they say, was history! No just kidding, it’s still completely new and scary to me every week...

What will I talk about on my YouTube channel

The aim of the Grandermarnier YouTube channel is to provide a platform where I can go into much more detail on topics surrounding vegan fashion than I can on blogs (without writing pages and pages and boring people to death). Videos give me that extra flexibility to approach topics in a different way and talk about them a bit more freely. I want to be the best source of knowledge that people can come to for information about the environmental and social impacts of wearing animal materials, and the vegan alternatives that are available.

My videos will be a mix of (hopefully) fun and information so that people can learn something new but not feel lectured or bored! I’ll still be talking about the same things on YouTube that I do on here, vegan fashion, sustainability, and ethical fashion. But I’ll also be doing more brand reviews, guides to shopping more sustainably, unboxings when I buy something special, and a tonne of other ideas that I’ll keep quiet for now...

My first YouTube video was all about Veganuary and how you could use it as an opportunity to explore vegan fashion if you wanted to ‘level-up’ the challenge! Click below to watch ⬇️

My latest video was an unboxing of a few pieces I bought from NU-IN, a sustainable vegan brand that I’ve been obsessing over for the past couple of years. Check it out here ⬇️

I’m now working on video #9 and it’s definitely going to be an interesting one that might spark some debate, so make sure to subscribe and hit that notification bell so you don’t miss it! (I share my new videos every Monday) I do hope you can join me on this YouTube journey and please give me comments to let me know what you’d like to see videos on!

See you over there ;)
